Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Kata-ru collects, why, and what your rights are under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Kata-ru (型る) is a Japanese craft brand based in London, United Kingdom. We are responsible for the personal data described here. Contact us at kataru.london@gmail.com.

Address: 6 St Mary’s Road, Leyton, London E10 5RB, United Kingdom

What we collect

When you buy from us

Payments are handled by Stripe. When you buy, we receive your name, email address, delivery address, the items you ordered and the payment status. We never see or store your full card details — Stripe processes them securely.

When you email us

We keep your email address, your name and the content of your message so that we can reply, prepare quotes and handle your order.

When you order from Japan

Orders for items shipped from Japan are placed on ZenPlus. ZenPlus collects the data needed for those orders under its own privacy policy.

When you visit this website

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and this site doesn't set its own cookies. Stripe may use cookies on its checkout pages.

How we use your data

  • To process, deliver and support your order — because we need to, to fulfil our contract with you.
  • To reply to your questions and send quotes — because you asked us to, and it's in our legitimate interest to respond.
  • To keep business and tax records — because the law requires it.

We don't sell your data, and we don't send marketing emails unless you've asked us to.

Who we share it with

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Royal Mail — to deliver your order.
  • Cloudflare — website hosting and security.
  • Google — email (Gmail) and website fonts.
  • ZenPlus — only for orders you place with them.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting purposes, and emails for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or order. After that, we delete them.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email kataru.london@gmail.com. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes.
